Personal growth begins with self-awareness

Spread the love

In order to begin a journey of personal growth, a first step is to know yourself (the self-awareness): your strengths, your weaknesses, your interests and your opportunities.

We have already talked for a long time about self-awareness, as the first of the personal emotional skills of a resonant leader.

All this has led us to understand that personal growth and improvement is impossible without self-awareness.

Every time you want to set up an OKR to get where you want to go, you have to establish not only where you have been before, but also where you have arrived so far.

Where you arrived today in your growth is the result of the choices you have made so far, so if you intend to grow again, you must first be aware of yourself, where you came from, what you can do again and then, what new direction to take.

Consequently, whenever you want to learn something, you must be able to take what you have learned today and place it on what you learned yesterday to keep growing.

Today we live in a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous world (VUCA), and often afraid of its own strength and is looking for a direction.

There are many activities, but little oriented and lacking in a vision, so the many energies that are spent by all of us are not well focused and directed towards a common purpose.

It then becomes essential to be able to find at least ourselves and identify our direction.

To reach your potential, then, you need to know where you want to go and where you are currently. Without proper information, you could lose yourself and in this aspect, OKR Software is best option to track your activity.

This operation, however, can be difficult for some people, because it can become a vicious circle: you have to know who you are in order to grow, but at the same time you also have to grow in order to know who you are.

Many people get lost in what appears to be a vicious circle and don’t know where to start in order to grow.

How people use self-awareness for life choices

When it comes to taking a direction in life, there are three types of people and their behaviors:

1 - People who don’t know what they want to do

These people can be called confused. They lack a strong sense of purpose and do not have a sense of direction for their lives.

If they are growing up, they are not focused on what they want and they do it randomly.

These types of people cannot reach their OKRS because they do not have an exact idea of where to aim, lacking self-awareness.

2 - People who know what they want to do, but don’t

We can call these people lashes. Every day they experience the gap between where they are and where they would like to be. Sometimes they do not do what they would like to do because they fear that this may make them neglect other responsibilities, such as, for example, the family.

Other times they are not willing to pay the price to learn, grow and get closer where they want to be. Other times, instead, it is the fear that prevents them from changing direction to pursue their passion.

Whatever the reason, even these types of people cannot reach their potential.

They have self-awareness but do not put it into action.

3 - People who know what they want to do and do it

The third type of people know each other well, are self-aware, have a strong sense of passion, are focused on the purpose, grow in areas that help them get closer to their purpose and do what there is to do to get there.

We can call these people satisfied.
